Re: Challenge, finding full names for nicknames and spelling survey
in reply to a message by Lily
Ally: Well this I can see has working on its own since my sisters name is Ali – pronounced the same – and not short for anything. Perhaps Alberta, Alessandra, Briallen, Calliope, Callista, Gale, Cally, Hallie, Mallory, Sally, Talia, Valerie, AliannahPenny is one I also can see as working on its own if there is no full name that you like. Penka is the only thing I can really think of. It’s a stretch but maybe Peony.Charlie is hard to find a good one for. I personally love Charlotte but do not like Charlie much. Charmaine, Charnette, Chandler, Chara (pronounced with a hard CH sound)?Jess, Jenessa? Spelling it Jessika? Usually I think word names look more namey and less wordy with an e at the end but yes that is not true with all word names because some of them seem really weird like that. Aquinnah – 2 I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce it but it looks very busy
Estella – 6 It’s pretty nice though it seems a bit dated to me
Emmeline – 6
Shea – 4 but Shay 6
Cleo – 4
Sky,e – 7 I’m okay with both spellings
Brook,e – 7 I prefer it Brooke
Rain,e – 6 I prefer Raine
Keeley, Keely 2, Just seems trendy and too heavy on the e’s
Phoebe – 7
Esther – 2 seems very dated

Ohhh thanks. I really like Chara! I also love Callista and Calista and didn't even think of using Ally as a nickname. Now I worry that people will think I'm a huge Ally McBeal fan, though :P I like the spelling Ali, too. Your sister has a nice name!
