"Madison Kay [Ashley and Stephen]- BOY NAME."
I don't like Madison, but it was at one point the second most popular name for girls being born in the U.S. We can't accept that maybe it's crossed over?

I agree; when a boys' name is no longer being used on boys, it's no longer a boys' name. Sure, there may be the occasional boy named Madison, but... um, it's called reality. Some people won't accept the fact that Evelyn and Vivian are feminine names now, and the height of those names' popularity was so long ago that they're coming back.
Some name-related things make me mad (enough with the damn surnames! No more Bentleys! I hate Jayden!) but I just can't bring myself to argue with facts.

Never! To accept is to surrender. Never give up! Never surrender!
On a more serious note: what bugs me the most about Madison is the "-son" suffix. I can't understand how parents ignore that. It's not like Mackenzie, in which the meaning of "Mac" can escape a person if they don't do their proper research. But the "son" in Madison is evident. Unless she decides to change her gender down the road, Miss Madison Kay is a daughter.
Maudsdóttir would be more appropriate if one wishes to use a matronymic.

Maudsdóttir is freaking awesome.
Ohhh man now all I can hear in my head is some lady who was on Wipe Out once who always yelled, Never give up! Never surrender! Ha.

I love the sound of Maudsdóttir! I don't think I would use that one as a first name, but it might make a nice middle name. I wish feminine patronymics could see more usage, though. Especially when names like Madison are used on girls.
