WDYTO Stephanie?
I seem to like Stephanie a lot more than I thought I did. What do you think of it?

I prefer Stephen for a boy; though a friend named his daughter Stephanie because, in his words, "it's the most feminine name in the world". Hmmm. I hear it as too close to Tiffany for comfort.I also know a Staffordshire terrier named Stephanie but usually known as Steffie the Staffie.Stephanie seems dated, but it's got a good rhythm, like Emily, Dorothy, Coralie etc. My concern with that kind of name is that it always suggests that the parents would actually have liked a boy named Stephen. (I was at school with a largeish sibset: Stephanie, Paula, Janet and Jeffrey (twins) and finally Josephine.)

It's dated imo

Meh. I knew a lot of Stephanies growing up, so the name doesn't pack much punch for me. Also, it reminds me of stuffing.

I've always liked it:)

It's a decent name. It's not one I would use myself mainly because I know too many people with this name, but I find it respectable.

It's fun to say. Kind of like Jennifer. I love saying Jennifer and Stephanie. Probably because of the F sounds. That's why I like them without nicknames (no Jen or Steph).Apart from that it's dated and has been popular for way too long. I know many who were born in the 80s. So I think it needs a good rest. Would make a nice middle name, though.

I love the name Stephanie! It was what my parents were going to name me, but I didn't "look" like a Stephanie. I think I might use it one day.

I don't much care for it. I hate the nickname Steph. I don't like eph sound.

I used to hate it, but after meeting a Stephanie and watching a play with a Stephanie I kind of like it. Before I knew any it was just an obnoxious 80's name, but after meeting one I saw its softer side. The fact that it has a "S" and a "PH"/"F" makes it a little ethereal, actually, which isn't something I would have suspected.

It's ok. As much as I usually dislike -ie nicknames as short forms of things, I actually find Stephanie nn Stevie kinda fun... It's not at the top of my list, but it's likeable enough... Plus, now that not everyone is using that name so much, there's space for Stephanie to be refreshingly different without being freakishly odd... If you really like it, go ahead and use it... or recommend it as an option for people deciding on names.

I've known way too many of them. I don't like it at all. To me it just seems way too common and boring, but that's because of my associations.

Well, there are a lot of Stephanies my age, so I find the name more than a little dull, but I often find it really charming in the middle name spot. I think it's gentle French charm, which over-use sort of stripped away, floats to the surface again when paired with the right name.
