I'm not sure how well known Kirkland is outside the dance comunity so I don't think it wouod be that odd or automatically associated. I also don't think it will mistaken too much for Kelsey or Chelsea. IMO those are a bit 90s anyway, Gelsey is definitely a fresher option. As for the pronunciation, I have always heard it with a hard G. Not really a fan with the soft G. It sounds too much like jealousy.
