Re: Alice

I used to love it. It was one of my favorites. It reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. Of a sweet little girl and it had all those light pink, yellow, light green and white colors attached to it.
At the moment I really dislike it. It makes me think of Alice Cooper and Alice in Chains. Nowadays it has a red color mixed with black that is threatening and unattractive (I hope I make sense here, I just see colors when I hear names and they greatly influence the opinion I have on it).
I don't like that it has the "lice" in it either but that's not the worst thing about the name, in my opinion. Also Alice doesn't sound like "lice" at all, it just looks like it.
It's also getting pretty common I think. At least I hear it a lot lately. That wouldn't bother me very much if I still liked it, though.
I love Adele and Elaine. They'd actually make a lovely sibset. I also really like Georgia and Phoebe.
Top 5:
Alice Odette - I don't like Odette much on its own, but the combo is charming. Makes me think of ballerinas and ice skating. Also Odette manages to soften the name and makes the Alice Cooper image go away somewhat.
Alice Hope - I love Hope and it's just such a great sentiment.
Alice Cosette - very soft and ladylike
Alice Jasmine - makes me think of a lovely flower garden
Alice Elaine - because I have a soft spot for Elaine, it should make a comeback
Bottom 5:
Alice Colleen - Colleen is just so unattractive and it's weird how it's just a word for a girl.
Alice Ekaterina - Ekaterina is just too traditionally eastern european. Not saying that you shouldn't use a name from a different culture but Ekaterina seems to be THE name Russian girls always have kind of like Olga or like Juan which is such a standard name on Spanish boys that I couldn't imagine Ekaterina on a girl without eastern european roots. Of course you should use it anyway if you love it.
Alice Morwenna - Morwenna just looks unattractive to me
Alice Olwen - dislike Olwen
Alice Letitia - I used to love Laetitia but the fact that you could spell it Letitia ruined it for me.
Hope this helped

On Eastern European names: my whole family is Russian Jewish, and I speak Russian, so Russian names don't feel out of the box for me, really. I agree with you that it seems awkward on a girl without those roots.
I can definitely get on board with you; Alice Cooper was ruining the name for me for a while. I just keep going back and forth. I think by the time I'm having kids (six, seven years from now), it won't be as much of a deal. I see colors with some names, not all (I do have synesthesia, but it's more related to numbers than words), but Alice is light blue, white, black, and gold for me. I like that.
Thanks for your feedback! So thorough. :)

I didn't know that but then it's great that you like a name that honors your heritage :) You're welcome :)
