Jasper

Well considering the fact that it's my DS's name, I'm probably a good person to answer this! I've just loved the name for so long, since I was about 15 or 16 I think and I decided that if/when I had a DS one day, that would be his name. Thankfully my DH was happy to indulge me and that is how my son's name was chosen. I just think it's incredibly handsome and it has a nice old-fashioned feeling to it without being stuffy. It also conjures up images of an artist which appeals to my DH and I, since my DH was a professional artist for years. Naturally the gemstone also comes to mind. I just LOVE it! The name really suits my DS too.
Jasper has been either 1st or 2nd on my top names list for years!
For me Jasper is multifaceted. He manages to be both strong & gentle, playful & pensive, and depending on the moment he can be a Peter Pan like boy running through enchanted forests or a bookworm that spends as much time as possible lost in a new story :)

I like it because it has a slightly mystical sound and makes me think of the gemstone and sort of a dark green color. It also sounds/looks sort of noble.
I completely agree!
I used to love Jasper.
I found it handsome, elegant and refreshing. I still like it, but not as much. I do think it has a nice look and a nice ring to it though.

I love the name Jasper, but I don't really have a reason why!
I like the fact that it's easy to spell and pronounce, but it's not really common.
It's substantial as a name on it's own, but short enough that it doesn't require a nickname.
It has an old fashioned charm which I really like. I love names which are old fashioned sounding but are coming back around. I get a similar vibe from Jasper as Oscar, Archie, George, Harvey, Arthur, Peter and other names which are becoming more popular for babies (in the UK anyway)
I also like that Jasper is definitely a boys name. I don't think Jasper is a name which will become trendy on girls. At least I seriously hope it doesn't!

One of my favourites. It's just charmingly old-fashioned, a little offbeat, gentle...I just love Jasper.
Well, I like it because I find it somewhat charmingly old-fashioned, yet appealingly modern. It brings to mind a scrappy, mischievous boy. But that's just me.
I'm not sure... It has a bit of a GP quality... I'd not be inclined to use it on one of my own children because I have so many combos w/ names I like way more, but on the right person it can work... like Jasper Dale on "Road to Avonlea"... As for people REALLY loving it, I am not quite sure on that one. That said, I do like it better than a few other common loves on this board.
I remember seeing a few paintings at the National Gallery that were painted by more than one Jasper. That is why I like it.
I like it. And Casper too. I think because those two names sound similar to whisper and when I hear them I think of a quiet, well-mannered boy. Also, I'm a big history buff. I've been going through the Civil War index at work and there are a few Jaspers, so it also makes me think of the Civil War/history. I could really do without the Twilight association though.
Thank you!
I didn't think of the whisper assoc. Also, I am a history buff too. I love it! In high school I took a Civil War History class. It was amazing. So I feel like I can now appreciate the name. Before I could only think of the gem assoc. I've never read/watched Twilight so I didn't think of that.
Thank you :)
