I was at school with an Edith Linda Marie! She never used a nn to my knowledge. They were a Scottish family, and she is the only English-speaking Edith I've ever met, though I was also at school with a German Editha.
Unfortunately for the name, where I live there's a popular cartoon character - a grumpy old gin-swigging grandmother - named Edith, which I thought was perfect until it turned out she had an identical twin sister named Abigail.
