Aquinnah
Used to be an old favorite. It's not made up, there's even a city named this. Just wondering what you think of it. I like how she has a long, feminine name but you could still call her Quinn.
I pronounce it ah-KWINN-na, would anyone say ah-KEE-na? Just wondering. Would you use Aquinnah or Aquinna?

I like it. I agree that part of the appeal is the pretty Aquinnah with the androgynous nickname Quinn. Best of both worlds.
I say ah-KWIN-na.
I say ah-KWIN-na.
I like it, but I'd prefer Aquina. I say ah-KWEE-na, but a-KWINN-a works too. I'd like Aquinna for a-KWINN-a ("Quinn"), and Aquina for a-KWEE-na.
I want to say ah-QWIN-na, because it makes the most sense to me in English, but I know it's not an English word and I have heard ah-KEE-na somewhere, so I called Aquinnah, MA to find out how the locals say it. The library's message and the guy at the Town Hall definitely said ah-QWIN-na. Because of this, I think you don't need to worry about ah-QWIN-na being a valid pronunciation, but there are no guarantees that it's the only valid pronunciation, if that matters to you.
I prefer the Aquinnah spelling.

Hahahaha thanks for calling! I actually wondered how they'd pronounce it. Cool that they say it the way I want it to be said. I also prefer the Aquinnah spelling.
You're welcome. :) You made me curious about it.
Isn't there a celebrity kid named Aquinnah? Like a teenager age one, not a baby.
Anyway, I like it. The sound and look is appealing, and it's very autumnal and leafy. That's because it reminds me of Aquinas, which is a private college near me (named for Thomas Aquinas, I'd imagine) that has tons of different trees on its campus from all over. We took a field trip to see them in 8th grade. :) Anyway, I love Aquinas, so I also like anything that resembles it.
I pronounce it a-KWIN-a. I don't know why anyone would say a-KEE-na. It looks like a Native American word. (And I think it is, too?)

Yep, Michael J Fox's daughter. She'd be about 15/16. She has a twin named Schuyler (girl).
Are you in Australia? I've seen a school named Aquina when I was there. But I pronounce them differently. Aquina=ah-KEE-na, Aquinnah=ah-KWINN-a.
The place I saw was pronounced ah-KEE-na (the school, I mean). But Aquinnah is definitely ah-KWIN-a to me. Yes, it's native American.

Ah yes, that's right. Saw them in a magazine once.

Oh that town is just beautiful, by the way. I just googled it. Gorgeous. Oh and I didn't look at your username, sorry. I know you're from the US :)

I met an Aquinnah! She was probably about 9-10 years old this summer and went by Quinn. I think it is really pretty, but I don't think I would personally use it. She said her parents went to the place Aquinnah or like somehow the place was important to them, so they named her after it. It is a really pretty name though.
Wow, awesome. I thought the only one was Aquinnah Fox (Michael J Fox's daughter) and she's 15 or 16.
I like it. So much nicer than just Quinn on a girl.
Aquinnah. Aquinna looks odd and incomplete to me.

hahaha wow, you're fast! I like Aquinnah better as well. I would probably not even call her Quinn because Aquinnah is so nice and rare.
I would, even though I'm not a big fan of Quinn. But then, I'm Australian. We have to nn everything, it's inherited along with our love of Vegemite. And Aq / Aqie isn't the greatest.
But I do think Aquinnah is pretty. And it makes me think of horses. And most of the little girls I've looked after have loved horses.
