It seems like it will be mispronounced quite a bit. I would imagine that most people would say either SHAR-mee-an or CHAR-mee-an. Both of those pronunciations remind me of Charmin (the toilet paper brand). Kahr-mee-an is kind of nice but I'm not sure about it. It sounds a bit masculine to me. Carmel seems more feminine to me. I really like Laurel, Helena, and Mara. Sophia is pretty as a middle name. It's gotten way too popular as a first name.
