Short, sweet middle name for Freya?
We both really like Freya, and have a few combos - Freya Jean, Freya Joy and Freya Rose are all possibilities (they all honour family members), but we'd like some more options. They need to be short because our child will have a double-barrell, 14-character, three-syllable surname. I'm looking for middle names that are no more than two syllables *and* no more than 5 letters. All suggestions welcome!

I only like Freya with strong mns. They can be short, but they still need to be strong and tough IMO. Like...Freya Joan
Freya Gudrun
Freya Mabel
Freya Dawn
Freya Edith
Freya Blythe
Freya Roan
Freya Brigh
Freya BrigidSome of those are 6 letters though. Also Roan is a GP, I guess it's more of a boys name really. But that's the kind of thing I woudld look for.

Clare is good; Alice is springily Oz; Ruth would work for me; pity that Louise has too many letters for you; Mary would be a nice surprise; Cecile is pleasantly cross-cultural but "long"; Daisy is trendy but cheerful; Helen is a nice take on Ellen! That said, I think I'd go for Joy.I keep thinking of this and then forgetting it again: Christine + Ellie could become Christelle! I was at school with a very pleasant Elizabeth Christelle Margaret, known as Christelle to this day, so length need not necessarily be a factor, though admittedly she had a single-sylalble ln! I know it's close to your former handle, but that's not a bad thing either.Of course, without knowing the truth about that there surname, it's impossible to judge sound and rhythm, but you two can do that for us.

I love Freya Ruth :)Out of yours I like Freya Joy. Jean is nice just not my style and Freya Rose is just the most common Freya Combo that I know so doesn't have spark for me

Renée
Im not sure if it rhymes too much and I know some people dont care for Renée but I love it and I think Freya Renée sounds nice. I also like Renée's meaning of reborn/born again.Other combos (Im really not good at these so Im just throwing random 1 and 2 syllables names together)Freya Wren (maybe too much "r" sound?)
Freya Louise
Freya Gaële
Freya Marin
Freya Beth
Freya Sophie
Freya Lenore
Freya Marie
Freya Liese (runs together too much?)
Freya Lauren
Freya Rose

I feel like 3 syllables isn't all that much for a double barrel surname. I'm playing with it and I really think you can get away with using more than what you're looking for.
(Do forms there often require you to give a full middle name? Most forms here just ask for middle initial.)But since you asked
Freya Alys / Alice
Freya Amy
Freya Blue
Freya Carys
Freya Dawn
Freya Eden
Freya Edith
Freya Helen
Freya Hero
Freya Lark
Freya Liv
Freya Maud
Freya Muse
Freya Pax
Freya Pearl
Freya Piper
Freya Ruth
Freya Sage
Freya Sky / Skye
Freya Snow
Freya Wren
Freya Zoe

I don't think that is the right way to go with her...I really must protest. I'm growing rather weary of all of these tawdry British-sounding short and diminutive names to which many people are gravitating. I don't mind hearing Annie as a given name, for example, but please pair it with something more profound (Annie Keturah, Annie Matilda). Something short like Freya Joy, or Freya Lou ruins it for me, and I actually like Freya. Freya needs a substantial partner...like:Freya Magdalene
Freya Margaret
Freya Louisa
Freya Geneviève
Freya Guinevere
Freya Josephine
Freya Caroline
Freya Charlotte
Freya Dorothea
Freya Elizabeth
Freya Susannah
Freya TheodoraIt just gives it so much more depth.

I agree with you in theory, and some of the combos you have there are lovely. However I think if the last name is very long and double-barrelled, then it might be too much to have a really long and complex middle name like those. Also I don't really think Freya is diminutive...

Well, for a start, we are British. We really don't want a long Georgette Heyerish mouthful of a name. I can appreciate them aesthetically, but our surnames are already long and life contains a lot of forms to fill in. We want something pretty and balanced and sound but not so elaborate that it's wearying.
