Scottish Names
I would've thought that with the people who appear to be responsible for this website having the Scottish Highland surname Campbell they could've done a wee bit better with some of the Scottish names rather than apparently relying on guesswork and invention e.g. Mackenzie certainly does mean "son of Coinneach" but if you'd bothered to take it one wee step further you'd find that Coinneach is Scottish Gaelic for Kenneth! If you don't understand Scottish stuff please leave it to those of us who do! Slainte Mhath! p.s. I feel I should point out that I'm Scottish, not some wannabe i.e. I was born in Scotland and live in Scotland! I'm also curious as to why, next to where it says "SCOTLAND" on pages, you have the Butchers Apron flag rather than the Saltire? Newsflash...........SCOTLAND IS A NATION,one of the oldest in the world!!!

Rather than taking this up with other posters, maybe you should contact the board admin. They can help with any issues with the content.
Agreed
Posters have no control over content on this site. Any influence "Iain mac Ghille Mhaoil" may have had over my opinions on names is lost because of his rude and overbearing tone. I come here to learn but I won't be insulted.

This sounds like it should be on the Name Facts board as well, not Opinions.
This website does not use any guesswork or invention, it is completely scholarly. If there is ever anything questionable it is noted that it is only a theory, and if anyone ever has more information to add, they can submit it and it will be considered.
If you would actually click on Coinneach, you'd see that it mentions that it is often Anglicized as Kenneth. Coinneach is not a Gaeliciaztion of Kenneth.
