Layne
Layne is my MN and a HUGE family surname on my mothers side (like we try to have a LAYNE family reunion every year where there are probably at least 100 people linked by my grandmother and her siblings). I have considered using it as a second MN from time to time in both my girl and boy combos but after actually witnessing it on a young boy today I'm really starting to like it as a FN. So what do you think of it? How would you pair it (for a boy)? None of the usual sort of MNs I go for seem to work with it. And do you think it would be weird to be named Layne considereing the amount of people in the "Layne" family - many of which still carry that surname?

I don't mind it. I know a boy named Laine Quinn (not Layne, I know, but still). Quinn is his last name but I always thought it would make a good combo.
I think it would work best as a MN in your family, for a girl or a boy. For boys I'd give it a simple but obviously masculine fn, since Layne (Lane, Laine, etc.) is unisex and the Layne spelling is probably more common for girls.
