I totally would have named my daughter Edith if my husband had not said he wasn't comfy with it. He said it was "too much of a statement." I'm not sure what that meant, but that's what he said. I think it just sounds sort of hipster? because it's so old-ladyish, but it isn't so unfashionable sounding or loaded with bad associations, I don't think, that it'd be hard to bear. I've met a young Olive and a young Eudora, and even a Delphine, and I think those are more of whatever kind of statement Edith is. And, I think they are fine.
