Annie
What does everyone think of the name Annie?I'm surprised it hasn't become really popular in the UK like other nicknames have (Evie, Maisie, Lucy, Lily etc.), but I think it would definitely fit in here.I would personally use it as a nickname for Anneliese / Annelise (also after my friend Lisa) or Arianne. Any other nice names it can be short for?

I adore Annie. It's my sister's name (US). In her case it's short for Elizabeth Ann. My parents knew they wanted to name her Annie but struggled to figure out a full name to go with it until she had already been around for several hours. My dad's suggestion? Annie Oakley Lastname.Good thing my mom was there to set him straight!

I actually quite like Annie. It was the only reason I agreed to name our youngest dd Anna. Turns out, dh calls her Annie while I call her Annika. Lots of names it could be short for:
Annabel, Annabella
Annalisa
Anastasia
Andromeda
Annora
Antonia
any name ending in ana: Adriana, Christiana, Diana, Eliana, Iliana, Juliana, Liliana, Mariana, Tatiana
any name ending in anna: Joanna, Rosanna, Susanna

I don't like Annie as a standalone, but I think it's one of the best nicknames out there. Annie is so versatile; I think it works in any name with an "an." I like Annie more than the most common/obvious nicknames for these names:
Antonia
Angeline
Candace
Daniela
Marian
Miranda
Samantha
Savannah
Susannah
VanessaIt's a cute nn for a few names that are hard to find attractive nicknames for too:
Hannah
Ianthe
Ileana
Rowan
Shoshana
XantheMy favorite ways to get to Annie are pretty traditional, though: Anna/Anne, Anastasia, Liana, and Annabeth.

It's my name! Full name, not as a nn for anything. I kind of wish I were called Anneliese, but I can deal with Annie.

I like Annie. I think is cute & intelligent. It will also age well. It is a bit too nicknamey for me (although I like Lucy & Maggie on their own). I think Annelise is great and Arianne would work too. My MIL is Angelika so if I ever used Annie, it would be short for Angelica.

I LOVE Annie. It was my nickname in one class in high school and it kind of made me wish I went by that all the time. Annie so much more fun than Anna, it's spunky. It does seem like it would fit in the UK, maybe it'll get on the charts soon.Hm...
Annabelle
Anastasia
Andrea
Annette
Annika
Anselma
Anthea
