Re: Nicknames as first names

I think some nicknames stand alone better than others, actually. Oddly enough any name that ends in 'ie' seems incomplete to me (probably due to names like Maggie, Katie, etc, that are popular here, but always short for something). However, I knew a woman that named her daughter Abby instead of Abigail, because she didn't see the point of naming her child a name she wouldn't be called most of the time. So really, it's just a matter of opinion.
Names on your list that I think are excellent choices for standing alone are:
Ada, Audrey, Eliza*, Flora, Heidi*, Margot*, Penny, Sacha, Sally, Eli, Jack*, Jules, Levi.
*= I love them!
I do really, really love Kit, Annie, & Maggie, though.
