Gordon

Love, love, love
Years ago I liked this and I don't think I could find one person to agree with me, saying it reminds them of the spanish word for fat or something....
I dont know, but I really like it and I don't find it old-fashioned at all, not like Harold or Walter or anything like that.
I'd put Martha into the same category as Gordon, although I'm not a fan of Martha. I don't really see it as old-fashion as some other names out there, just a name that comes and goes from the popular charts

I don't really care for Gordon. Still too clunky and lacking grace for me.
Martha, on the other hand, I really like. I think it's ready for a comeback. Very sweet and cozy.

I like it! I don't even think it seems that old-fashioned. I've only known two Gordons. One was an old guy and one was a guy my age (mid-20s). It feels big for some reason (maybe because of the train from Thomas, which is my son's favorite!), so it's warm and friendly. It has some outdoorsiness going on too, and also something sophisticated, both which I love. It's like Gregory to me, but more mature. (For the record, I also love Gregory.)
Martha feels like one of those old-fashioned names ready for a comeback. It's fresh and sweet.

Gregory's quite nice actually.
Unfortunately, a boy in middle school, named Gordon, used to bully me. Prior to knowing him, I think I actually liked the name Gordon. I used to love all of the names of the trains on Thomas the Tank Engine, lol. If you like it, I say go for it!
I totally love the name Martha. A woman on my street named her newborn Martha. She's so cute. I'd love to hear of another baby named Martha!
ETA: Gordie is such a sweet nn. It's making me love the name Gordon more. :3

I don't hate Gordon, but I don't exactly like it, either. I don't have the most positive associations for the name, and I really dislike its most obvious nicknames, Gord and Gordie.
I love, love, love Martha, on the other hand. It is full of quirky, old-fashioned charm, as you said, and deserves to be revived.

not in Scotland, it's still really dated.
And Gordon Brown did it no favours.
