I was suppose to be expecting a boy (Ulises), so I was told, but to our surprise, it was a girl but we still liked the name, so we named her Ulyssa. Yes it does get mistaken with Alyssa at times, but once you correct people and have them emphasize on the "U" it sounds beautiful. It has the meaning "hate", well my daughter is 16 and she can tell you exactly what she likes and dislikes without hesitating. She is very intelligent, disciplined and likes to challenge herself, and will stand up to defend what's right. I'd say the name fits her well.
