Funny/Cute BA
My mom works with a lady who just had a son named Vincent. Adorable, right? Turns out his full name is Vincent Tater. Yup, Tater--that's what his parents were calling him in the womb, in part because his mom loves Tater Tots. I think this is a pretty bad naming choice, but hey, I'm a snob. I have heard of other parents using the in-utero nickname as a MN--I think Frances Bean Cobain may be the most famous example.Anyhow, WDYT? Of pregnancy nicknames that end up on the birth certificate? Of Tater in particular? Of Vincent?

At least it's in the middle. There was a more recent celebrity who gave his son the first name Peanut because that's what they called him before he was born. Tater is close to Tate and kind of feels like a real name, I guess. I hate the concept of calling potatoes taters though :P Unless it's a tater-tot, because what else do you call that?

Not really my thing, but it's cute. Of course little Vincent is going to grow up and be so embarrassed of that middle name, lmao. I'm not sure they thought that one through his teen years and adult life. At least middle names are rarely used!

Well Vincent is nice. At least they hid tater in the middle name slot. I don't think those nicknames should make it on the birth certificate. If they still like it than they can still use it as a nickname but it should stay a nickname.

Vincent Tate would be a great name as I really like Tate and Vincent isn't bad, Tater is just silly. Similar situation for my family. My mom is pregnant right now and everyone's been calling the baby Pip, but it's not going on the birth certificate I can tell you that.

My son's in-utero nicknames were Itty-Bitty and Pokey Joe. I don't think he would have appreciated either one on his birth certificate. :)I think of naming someone as a serious responsibility, so I really don't like it when silliness like Tater ends up on a birth certificate. Vincent is gorgeous, but if I were little Vincent Tater, I'd start insisting my name was Vincent Tate as soon as I grew old enough to realize my parents turned my name into a joke.

Ha, that is funny. Bean was my 5-yo daughter's baby-nick (rarely she is still called that by her father) and Tater (as in potato, analogous to bean but more boyish-sounding, I thought) was my son's baby-nick (rarely still used, he's 3 and is outgrowing it).I would not have put either of them on the BC, myself, because they weren't really names *of anyone* until the baby was born. When I was pregnant, I referred to my daughter as "the FC" for a while (future child), and that would have seemed about as sensible (not at all), at the time she was born, to put on her BC. But I think Tater and Bean might be not worse than filler names, if you honestly don't have any names you even slightly want to use. They're silly and childish, but at least not meaningless. I like Vincent.
