I like Demetrio too. Also Dimitri and Demetrios. I don't know about Demetrius "working" better, but the Latin form does seem to be least specific about national origins, where I live. I'm white and I would slightly expect a Demetrius to be African-American - which isn't negative if you're not black, I just thought it was of interest.
I wonder if I should add it to my list... hm.

I would also expect a Demetrius to be African-American, since it's fairly popular in that culture. The only ones I've ever heard of were African-American, but I don't think it would be weird to see on a white person, either. I do think it's a nice name.
