Can Manny be used as a nickname to...
Amanda? Because in 4th grade, my two friends and i gave each other new names and i choose Amanda, and my nickname was Manny.
Well anyways, could Manny be a nickname to Amanda? Yes or no?

Dracula: I am Count Dracula!
Yakko: Didn't you use to teach math on Sesame Street?

It could ... but I don't think it works since the word "man" is so prominent in it.

Of course it can
I don't think there are any rules for nick names. You just use any nick name you want, even if it has never been done before.
Of course, people might not get that the formal name for Manny is Amanda, but I don't think that matters.

Ned Flat: Why are you acting like this?
Yakko: We're not acting. We really are like this.

Yakko: Well it's that time again!

I think of Manuela nn Manny too, but not because of Degrassi - there is a little Balinesian Manny who survived the Bali bombings when everyone thought she would die, and she's quite well-known in Australia. Her real name is Manuela.

Off topic, but...
Did you ever watch Degrassi Junior High or Degrassi High? I've never seen the Next Generation but I love the older ones.

Yes, I watched both of the older Degrassis when I was growing up and they were on PBS here. :b They were quite daring for what they were, I think, but I liked the 'teen soap'-iness of it at the time. The new Degrassi is cute, and also deals with some heavy issues, but I haven't been watching it as much lately. Some of the characters from the "older" shows are still on it - Joey has a stepson that goes to Degrassi, and Joey is seeing Caitlin on & off; Spike (who now goes by Christine) is married to Snake (Arthur) and they have a baby together, but Spike's daughter, Emma, is now a teenager and goes to Degrassi. A few other characters have shown up now and again, or have been mentioned. It's on "the N" in the U.S., btw; the Nickelodeon channel for small kids called "Noggin" by day turns into the N at night, for teens. (I think the most recent season has ended already, though)

No, it's too masculine to me
