Twin naming crisis (middle name help needed)
We're expecting twin boys, due on December 13th. It should be every name nerd's dream to have the chance to name twins, but I'm completely stuck when it comes to the middle names. We have decided on on the first names though, they are Adrian and Rafael (not Raphael, we're not in an English-speaking country). Here's the dilemma: We want to use two middle names. We both have two middle names ourselves and it's common were we are. My fiance's great-grandfather's middle names were August Emanuel, and we really like them both, so we thought Adrian August Emanuel would be perfect. But what about Rafael? To be fair he should also have family names as middle names - but there really aren't any we like, except perhaps for Johannes which is a variation of my father's name. Perhaps we should split up the middle names so that we have Adrian Emanuel Something and Rafael August Something? But what? I would really appericiate if you could help us out with suggestions.Family names we like:

I really like Rafael Wilhelm Johannes and Rafael Nicholas Theodor. I love Adrian and Rafael as twins, also. Congratulations!

Thank you all! Thanks to everyone for the input, I will discuss all the options with my fiance but we'll probably just stick to Adrian August Emanuel, it is too perfect to change. Good thing I still have about a 140 days left to contemplate Rafael's middle names. I'll get back to you! Thanks again!

Adrian August Emanuel is perfect, and I would love Rafael Valdemar Johannes.

Benjamin goes wonderfully with Raphael/RafaelRafael Benjamin Nicholas
R B Nathanael
R B Matteo
R B Lucius
I personally like Benjamin Tsubasa Raphael (meaning reference to Malachi 4:2 and Acts 2:33 for those with such leanings)... can always stick Rafael in the place it fits and still have him go by it whether it's fn or mn.

*cries of happiness* August Emanuel! I love those two names! Adrian August Emanuel is perfect. Perfect. That's why I think you should stick to that combo and try to find something else for Rafael. I love Matteus (it's my fourth favorite name for a boy) but I'm not sure I think it goes that well with Rafael. Overall, I think you have some great names on your list. I really like Johannes by the way. Do you like Isidor/Isidore? I think Rafael Isidore Johannes would ne a nice combo. Since you have pretty much all my favorite names for boys on your list I thought I should at least mention it ;)
Anyway, congratulations and good luck with the name hunt.

Great names. To keep a matching flow with Rafael August, you need a 3rd name with 4 syllables. Cornelius would work. Or Sebastian, or Bartholomew. Thucydides or something similar if you want to go Greek. I'd search in that direction--then you can keep the 3-2-4 rhythm going. I agree that family honoring names should be equally split between the boys.Rafael August Thucydides.
