Ivan & Ivo
What are your thoughts on these two names? Which do you prefer - Ivan or Ivo- and what is your preferred pronunciation of them? Also, would you use Ivan as it is, or have Ivo be a nn?
I used to find Ivan quite old and ugly, but I've seen it in a new light. Ivo is interesting, and I like that it has two different origins.

I love Ivan and I'd probably use it if it wasn't so popular here (I have two great-grandfathers named Ivan).
Ivo is dated here and considering that both our former Prime Minister and the current President are named Ivo, I doubt it'll make a comeback any time soon. I prefer it as a nickname anyway.
I only like them pronounced with an EE.

I love Ivan. I pronounce it EYE-van, but I like the Russian pronunciation too. The former would go over better outside of Eastern Europe, though, because of the latter's similarity to Yvonne. I never really got the appeal of Ivo. It always seemed kind of incomplete to me. I'm pronouncing it EE-vo. I'd use Ivan as it is, and if I did use a nn, it would be Vanya instead of Ivo.
Vanya is cool:)
