Cassandra
Cassandra used to be one of my favourites as a little girl. I thought it was so tragically beautiful and noble. I fell out of love with it after I met someone named "Cassanna" (similar enough) who was a total weirdo ditz. But after a few years apart, Cassandra is starting to grow on me again. What do you think of Cassandra? If you were to use it, how would you combo it?

My dh and I both love Cassandra. We'd never use it because he'd want to call her Cassie and I'd rather call her by the full name. His fave combo is Cassandra Jane, hands down. I like several:Cassandra Eve -- my fave
Cassandra Laurel
Cassandra Joy
Cassandra Juliet
Cassandra Margaret

I used to automatically think of the "Wayne's World" character, so I didn't care for it as much, but now, I like it. I think it sounds sophisticated without being pretentious, and I like the fact that it has mythological roots. It's a familiar name for most, so the likelihood of someone looking confused and saying "What?" after hearing the name Cassandra is low, but at the same time, it's not too popular.I can't say I'm a fan of the nickname Cassie, but I like Cass. It sounds pert and snappy.Cassandra Laure is one of the first combos that came to mind. I'd try to stick with a middle name with one or two syllables, preferably one.Others:
Cassandra Lisette
Cassandra Simone
Cassandra Maeve
Cassandra Maren
Cassandra Patience
Cassandra Ivy
Cassandra Pearl
Cassandra Phoebe
Cassandra Miren
Cassandra Lark
Cassandra May / Mae
Cassandra April
Cassandra Helen
Cassandra Ellen
Cassandra Eleanor / Elinor - Long, but I couldn't resist.
Cassandra Noelle

I love the name Cassandra and would use it in the future, but every Cassandra I know goes by Cassie which I really don't like. So that ruins it for me. If I ever met one who went by her full name though that would be amazing.

I like Cassandra, especially her lovely meaning. The first thing to come to mind for a combo was Cassandra Liv.

Yeah, I'm the same way - I'm fonder of a name that has fewer associations.Thank you for the great list! I'm really taken with:Cassandra Willow - I enjoy Willow, but a close friend has a daughter named this. What about Cassandra Willa?
Cassandra Verity - oh, I do like this. plus, I think it goes along great with the whole story of Cassandra
Cassandra Iliana
Cassandra Lirael - Lirael is intereting. Where's it from? If it's just made up, I'd also enjoy Cassandra Liriel too.
Cassandra Betony - eeee! I love this! It's sunny and alert
Cassandra Elowen
Cassandra Lavinia - ahaa lovely. Also Lavinia is a family name!
Cassandra Vivien
Cassandra Signe - aw, adorable. Cassandra Signy is also fetching
Cassandra Wendy - another great one! So quirky and smiling
Cassandra Bryony
Cassandra Iris - Oh now this I like. I enjoy "sneaky" names that look "normal" but have ties to mythology. Iris Cassandra would be wonderful too
Cassandra Laurel - another subtly excellent one. Thank you very much!

Lirael is from this series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Kingdom_(book_series) Glad you like the combos! :) And I'm liking Iris Cassandra now too...

I like Cassandra and Cassie a lot. I've always struggled with finding a good combo because a lot of the names I like start with an s or a c which doesn't always work. Cassandra Fern is my current one I'd use. I also like Cassandra Faith.

I have very good personal associations with it. Also, Cassandra Mortmain. So thumbs-up here.
It is hard to pair, though; the instinct is to stick it with a one-syllable, but I'm not sure any of the ones I am thinking of really go stylistically with it. Cassandra Jane - nice but obvious
Cassandra Maud - nice but not quite right somehow
Cassandra Siân - I quite like the san/shan echo but probably nobody else would
Cassandra My - cute if I was Swedish
Cassandra Clover - cute but naaaah
Cassandra Athena - nice but too themey
Cassandra Elaine
Cassandra Lenore
Cassandra Lilou
Cassandra Helene

I really like Cassandra Jane, but agree that it's "obvious". Jane Cassandra has a nice ring to it though, no? I don't mind the echoing sounds in Cassandra Sian, and it looks pretty too. Casaandra is a lovely honey-yellow golden to me, and Sian is similarily light, so they go together nicely for me.Cassandra Clover is way adorable. I'm 90% crazy, so I'd consider it, too.I love Cassandra Helene and Cassandra Lenore. Cassandra Elaine is also lovely - I might tweak it a touch to Cassandra Eliane. Thank you!

I really like it. I would use the nickname Cassie which I think is really cute!Cassandra Juliet
Cassandra Miriam

Cassandra Lilith
Cassandra Madeleine

Oh, I do enjoy Cassandra Phoebe. Two mainstream classical names in one? The more the merrier, I always say!

I don't really like Cass or Cassy, but as a middle name I do quite love Casandra.

I knew a girl named Cassandra Jean (Cassie Jean). She went by CJ which I liked.

I like Cassandra well enough, but it's really kind of slipped as far as how much I like it. I don't know why. No good at combos so I'll leave that to someone else.

Cassandra was very nearly my own name, and I have to admit I would probably prefer it to what I ended up with (Danielle.) I do think it's beautiful, but I'm also kind of used to it because of knowing quite a few over time.

NMS. But I would pair it with something one syllable.

I think it's a bit dated now.

I agree, it does have a touch of an early 90's feel to it (Cassie does, most definitely). I'm trying to not let that get me down and focus on its ancient roots. Or at the very least, I'm trying to appreciate the subtle datedness about it :)
