Maurice
Maurice has been on my mind today. I'm using the French, "mo-REES" pronunciation. Or to be more precise, the American version of the French once which relaly comes out more like, "muh-REES." I like the UK, "MOR-iss" way too.
Which pronunciation do you use and where (generally) are you from? What do you think of Maurice? And if I've kept your attention this far, how about Muiris ("MYOOR-ish")? Combos?
TIA

Interesting! I didn't know the Brits said it with the stress on the second syllable. :-) Maurice Caspar and Maurice Llewelyn are fantastic.
Aw, Muiris is so patient. He's in no hurry. That's one of the things I like about him. Muiris Oscar is a definite winner.
Thanks, and sorry for not getting back to you until now.

I'm not sure if the majority of Brits say it like mo-REES, we're all different, I just know this one does ;)
Hehe, I am starting to like Muiris! Now I'm just getting over the fact that he sounds a bit like "more-ish".
And no worries, I'm such a lazy replier myself! Not that you are, of course :)

I pronounce Maurice like "more-EES." It definitely doesn't come out like "muh-REES." I'm from the Midwest (Illinois).
I like Maurice well enough, but it's not a favorite. It's the name of a clothing store around here so it reminds me of that a bit.
I like the look of Muiris but not the sound.
ETA: It doesn't make sense to me pronouncing Maurice like Morris either. Why not just use Morris then?

Yes, Muiris is not for everyone. But I'm glad you like his looks. :-)
Thanks for the feedback. It's much appreciated. And sorry for not getting back to you until this morning. Lovely pictures, by the way.

I live in the US, and I pronounce it "mo-REES". I don't think pronouncing it like Morris makes sense.
I think the pronunciation in my area is more like MORE-ees. I kind of like the pronounciation MOR-iss, though, since I don't particularly like the French pronounciation. I'm not a fan of the sound or look of Muiris, either. I kind of like Morris, but that's mainly because I had a very entertaining professor named that!
For no reason, Maurice Étienne popped into my head.

They say MOR-iss for Maurice in the UK? Huh. I like that, but I'd spell it Morris! I say it the way you do, and I'm from Michigan.
Maurice is alright. It tries to be a bit too top hat, monocle, and handlebar moustache for me, but I am beginning to be able to force a more everyday guy image from it, which is a lot warmer. I've been in a major huggable names phase lately. Maybe because I need a hug?
Not a lot of time here, I'm usually off for the night by now, but a few combos...
Maurice Abraham
Maurice Bevan
Maurice Canute
Maurice Clancy
Maurice Glenn
Maurice Humphrey
Maurice Oberon
Maurice Warren (but you probably don't like the repeated Rs? :P)
Muiris! It always has caught my eye, but I'm not so sure about it yet.
Muiris Almanzo
Muiris Arlo
Muiris Cormac
Muiris Delmar
Muiris Roger
Yeah, I can see it growing on me.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I'm loving so many of these combos:
Maurice Bevan (and Muiris Bevan)
Maurice Glenn
Maurice Humphrey (I'm a Bogey nut -- you struck gold with this one)
Maurice Oberon -- swoon!
Muiris Almanzo -- wow, what a heartbreaker he is
Muiris Cormac -- a top four name for me
Muiris Roger
Thanks!
