Laine?
What do you guys think of the name Laine as a mn for a girl?
I think its kind of cute. It came to me last night, and honors a part of my MILs fn.Do you think it would be better as a boys mn (spelled Lane)?

I like it for a boy spelled Lane and for a girl spelled Lain. (The E looks superfluous to me.) If you like it on either sex, too, I'd keep it in mind for both; there's no sense in choosing which you'd use it on this very moment, if it's not urgent.Array

I think it works for either sex. I prefer the spelling Laine for a girl and Lane or Layne for a boy.

I think it works on both sexes, but..I am turned off from that name due to the fact that a famous singer named 'Layne Stanley' had that name. He was a great musician in my opinion, but his life ended in drug overdose. I associate that name with him.

Laine has been on my favorite middle names list for at least four years. Elaine also used to be on my favorites list. I think it is pretty and a little trendy. It is also similar to Lynn but not nearly as common. Lane for a boy I don't like as much as for a girl.

I quite like the name, but sometimes I feel as though its slightly abrupt & unfeminine (but not masculine either). I like the spellings Laine & Layne and I don't mind Lane but only for a boy.

I think Lane for a boy.

I really like Laine on a girl, as a first name or a middle name. However, I don't like it on a boy, especially not the Lane spelling.

I prefer Elaine with Laine as a nickname. By itself, it is much too nickname-y and not at all feminine, even if it would be used as a middle name. I dislike it for a boy, as well.

I like it best as a middle name for a girl. My cousins name is Katie Laine. I think that the mn Laine is a great alternative to the overused Lynn.

I like it, although I prefer the spelling Layne : )Lane for a boy also works well!

Definetely a girl. Laine is a good middlename but I would not use it as a firstname.

I agree. Its too plain as a fn. Maybe as a nn for Alaina or something, but not on its own.

That would work but I prefer just Alaina!

Lane is a boy's name to me. I could see Laine on a girl, but it is nms really.

I think it's ok. I would spell it Layne because it looks more fun, but I wouldnt't if I were you because of your MIL. I think it could work if used with a good first name. Acutally, it's starting to grow on me as I type. What were you thinking gor FNs?»-(¯`v´¯)-»Foxy»-(¯`v´¯)-»

As of now, I really like Samara Laine. My MILs name is Lorraine, and although I like the idea of Raine as a mn, it doesnt seem to fit with Samara, so I got rid of the orr in her name and came up with Laine, which is more my style than Lorraine.

I love Lorraine! (sorry couldn't resist putting that in there)"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I think that Samara Raine and Samara Lorraine could work. I also think that Mara Laine could be a really cute nn.»-(¯`v´¯)-»Foxy»-(¯`v´¯)-»

I like it for a girl, but I prefer the spelling Layne. If MIL's name is Elaine, or something similar, I guess Laine is ok."No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I like Laine for either sex and would prefer Lane as a boy's name (for whatever reason!). I think it's a wonderful name; it sounds great to me and it's so underused and versatile.

As a mn I like it. If you were to use it as a fn I would prefer Laina.Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I like Laine as a MN, I think it could work as a FN, too. It's cute but not stupid, too. Lane as a boy's name is trendy but okay IMO.
