Belinda
Wdyt? Of what i've seen on other forums, it tends to get alot of negative feedback.
So ladies, give your honest opinion on this name. Good or bad, I can take it!

I have a friend named Belinda, and it's very fitting for her. However, personally I can not stand the name!
I love it! It sounds pretty.
Not a huge fan. It makes me think of a person with kitchy tastes. Like she'd wear costume jewelry and out-dated clothes and have ugly knick-knacks all over her house. And lawn ornaments. Plus I really dislike the sound of Linda, so Belinda just seems like a frilly elaboration of it.
It also reminds me of an anthropology professor I had because it was her first name. I pretty strongly associate it with her since she's the only one I've ever met. (Although the image described above doesn't match the professor.)

haha
As I was describing it I thought, I know this is going to actually be appealing to someone. Just not me, although it does make for a great character name.
Omg, I clicked on that link, and was not prepared! That's not quite the Belinda I had in mind... perhaps she's more of a mix of what I described and my anthro prof (who was kind of soft-spoken and hippie-ish). I just googled my professor and her name is actually spelled Bilinda. I'd forgotten about that.

I've only really known one Belinda, who was the cutest little scamp imaginable, and then there are the card-playing heroine of the Rape of the Lock and, greatest of them all, she who had the realio-trulio live pet dragon ...
I've always thought it a bit risky from a nn point of view: a friend had a Belinda mother who was known as Bill! People seem to think of it as frilly: surely it's less frilly than Isabella! But all the Linda associations ... Linda is pretty too, but more dated. I just don't know if I'd ever use it myself as a fn, but as a mn it would be excellent.
Lyn/Lin names in general: Belinda, then Lyndall, Linden (f), Lindsey (f), and the rest far behind. Linda would be next, I think.

I like it, and I think I slightly prefer it over Melinda.
Eh...I prefer Melinda.
I like Belinda. It's quirky and very underused. I think I prefer Melinda to Belinda, but I'd love to meet a little girl named Belinda.
*claps gleefully*
Well as you know, I enjoy it. I could see how some might find this name a bit dull, a bit washed out, but I just find it magical. It has a shining purple-blue colour, and reminds me of iridescent fairy wings and stars. I think it deserves a comeback.

Iridescent fairy wings and stars? Yep, I get that. I grew up with a great friend named Belinda. Actually, she was Jennifer Belinda and I couldn't figure out why she didn't go by Jennifer since it was soooo beautiful. ;-) Anyway, Belinda suited her well. She was so genuine and had this personality that drew everyone in.
