nickname or full name?
I noticed in a thread a little ways down, that there was some general support of the name Rex. This, combined with all the talk about Jax lately, has me thinking about short boy names that end in x. Do they feel nicknamey to you too, or would you use any of them as a full name? And if you'd use them as a nickname, what full name would you use?
Alex
Dax
Dex
Max
Lex
Lux
Rex
Tex
Did I miss some?

They all pretty much sound like nicknames.
Like Alex could be for Alexander
not sure what the other names would be nicknames for, but don't sound too much like full namesMax could go by itself as a full name, though

All are very nicknamey to me. Maybe I just don't like the letter X because the only name I like on that list is Max.

They sound very nicknamey to me! I'd only use them as a nickname for something more formal sounding. Alex - Alexander, Alexis
Dax - ??
Dex - Dexter
Max - Maximilian, Maxwell, Maximus, Maxen
Lex - Alexis
Lux - Lucius, Lucian, Lucan
Rex - Reginald
Tex - ??

Alex and Max are fine as as full names, perhaps maybe even Lux. Those are the only three I like from that list, the others are nms. That said, I still would opt for Alexander nn Alex and Maximilian / Maxwell nn Max over using just Alex and Max as full names.

I think Rex, Max, Lex and Lux all sound find as full names and don't sound much like nicknames. The rest sound very much like nicknames, but there is no rule on nicknames not being used as full names.

The ones I think are substantial enough on their own are Rex and maybe Max.All the others are just nicknames to me. The problem with Max for me is that I like it as a nickname, but I don't love any of the actual names it's used for. They're all either too over the top (Maximilian, Maximus) or too stuffy (Maxwell) or often mispronounced in English (Maksim).
