Both the books and the tv show, and the spin-off, Little Mosque on the Prairie. I can't see this as a first name, maybe as a middle name, but I really don't think I could hear it without thinking of one of those shows.

Prairie should be put in the middle name slot, if used as a name at all. It's too wordy to be used as a first name.

I think it's fine if it has meaning for the parents. Say I left the prairies and wanted to honour my hometown, kinda thing. But I would definitely put it in the middle name spot, I find it too silly for a first name. But I also find Willow, Wren, Sparrow, and other such naturey names a little ridiculous unless they can be redeemed by some meaning.

I think it's horrible. It makes me think of a prairie dog, like it's an insult.

Prairie is a huge GP for me!
If Sierra, Savannah or River can work as names, why not Prairie?

I would like it, but all I can think of is Prairie Dawn from Sesame Street! That aside, I can see it working in IRL (at least as much as Meadow).
