Quadruplets (did I spell that right?)
No one gave birth to quadruplets...but I was talking to a friend of mine and she mentioned that she liked the following as quadruplet names: Camille, Camilla, Camilo, and Cameron. What do you think? I don't like it. I like all of those names but they are too similar for siblings. What if they all wanted to be nicknamed Cam?

That sounds like a bad idea to me. It would make things very confusing. As for the names themselves, I love Camille, and Cameron is decent, but I'm not overly fond of Camilla and Camilo. I prefer Camila (kah-MEEL-lah) to Camilla. I like Camilla when it's pronounced kah-MEEL-lah, though.

WAY too similar! Plus, Camille and Camilla are just different forms of the exact same name. Also, Camilo is the masculine form of those names. Definitely an overkill.

I would never do that. Definitely too similar. Although I do know a set of triplets named Angela, Angelica and Angelique. I would be okay with a set of quads with the same first letter, like Margaret, Michael, Miles and Madeline... but even that can be a mouthful.

Your friend is being unrealistic. That set would work just fine if a little girl was naming her paper dolls. For anything more real, it's hopeless.

Camille, Camilla, Camilo, & Cameron...uh? What would their nicknames be? Cam, Cammie, Milla, & Milo? That's far too much. I don't mind the same lettering, but I do mind the same beginning, i.e. Cam--. Yikes.

That's terrible. I'm sorry, but I can't think of another word for it. All the names sound exactly the same, and would be confusing as hell on a real life sibset.

If only my friend could realize that...

Well, the chances of your friend actually having quadruplets are pretty small...

Personally, I think it's bad enough when people give all their children (multiples or not) names that start with the same letter. But this is crazy! Camille and Cameron would maybe work, but Camille, Camilla and Camilo are way way way too close! They have the first 5 letters in common. And all four names having the same nickname that can be used for boys or girls is not a good idea.

Ridiculous, frankly. I strongly dislike the notion that multiples are essentially the same person. Even identicals have their own personalities and brains to think with and hearts to love with and so on. Plus, as a name nerd, I just think - what a wasted opportunity! Using the same name thrice and a similar one with it.

I hope she was joking. That's stupid.

Three of them are basically the same name. Not a good sibset of any kind.

Man, is your friend dumb or something?

I told her about my interest in names and I kind of think she took it the wrong way...
I told her that I really didn't like that combination and she brushed it off saying that she liked "siblings that have similar names." I don't think it makes any sense but...
