I used to dislike Christopher, I thought of it as frumpy and way too popular. I'm slowly warming up to it though, it's changing from frump to sophisticated - ( though I always will prefer Christian)

I adore Kit as a nn (much better than the overused Chris, I agree). As for avoiding Chris as a nn, I know a guy called William who prefers going by Bill, that's what everyone calls him even though most people would be inclined to call him Will.

If you tell people you prefer people to call your child Kit, they'll call him Kit - I guess that's what I'm trying to say:)
