Oz
Lately I have fallen in love with the name Oz, but I don't think it would work as a full name. The obvious choice for a formal name would be a surname that starts with Os-. Of these, I only like Oswald, but I only like it to a point. I'm not really wild about it. So, I've been looking for other names that I could get the nn Oz from, and I'm come up with these:
Oswald nn Oz
Osvaldo nn Oz
Cosmo nn Oz
Osiris nn Oz
Prospero nn Oz
WDYT of them? Cool? Ridiculous? I think Cosmo really works. Do you have a favorite? Thanks all!

I like Osvaldo nn Oz, Cosmo nn Oz (this one especially!), and Prospero nn Oz. I'm not the biggest fan of either Oswald of Osiris in general.

The only Os- name I like it Oscar, which Ylva suggested. But it has more of on OSS sound than OZ; though Oz as a nn for Oscar is still totally 'do-able' imo. :b I think I like Cosmo the best of the ones you listed. Oz is cute for a nn, but it really only makes me think of "The Wizard of Oz" or (better yet, lol) the show "Oz" that was on HBO about men in prison. I liked the show, but now "Oz" takes on a whole different meaning. :-
ETA: Elinor mentioned Osbourne, which I thought of also, actually, when I first saw your post, mainly because of Ozzy Osbourne whose name is really John. You could use Osbourne as the mn and call him Oz. ? Just an idea.

I have a bit of thing for "Os" names. I love Osborne, Osmund and Oswin, and I think Oz would make an adorable nickname.

What about Oscar or Ossian?
Oscar is a classic and popular name in Sweden (originally a Celtic name). But maybe it has negative associations in USA?
Ossian is another Celtic name (also spelt Oisin) which is now considered by many parents in Sweden.
From your names, I like Cosmo best. Sounds really cosmopolitan ;)
Oswald makes me think of the murder or J F Kennedy. Osiris is too much Egyptian god, and Prosepero is too much Shakespearian magician.

Not too fond of it.
How about Osmosis? (you don't need to take that seriously, I don't if it's even a real name). I have a dog named Oscar (that could be another suggestion) and sometimes I call him Osmosis lol. I don't really know the point in that but hey it's two suggested names!
Out of your ideas I like Cosmo.
Another suggestion: Austin? That could possibly work?
