I've been thinking about changing my nickname lately.
You see my name is
Stephanie but I generally go by
Stevie as that was the nickname my parents and sister choose for me when I was born (it's on my birth certificate and everything). And while the nickname
Stevie served me well for most of my life. I'm kind of feeling like I have grown out of it a bit, unfortunately I never really grew into
Stephanie in the process.
So I was thinking about it the other day and I figured, with all of the nicknames available to the name
Stephanie, why should I be stuck with just the two?
Anyways for a long time I was thinking about changing my name to Anie/Annie, but since I already had an Aunt
Anne it seemed like it would be a bit weird. Then I figured out that I could use the nickname
Effie.
It seems to mean "well-spoken", which fits me perfect as I'm a writer, YouTuber and want to maybe do some acting. Plus my great-grandmother was also called
Effie. And after watching the British TV show, Skins, I realized that it could work in a modern day setting without much trouble.
But I'm not sure.. I think online and family I'll always be
Stevie. But I'm starting a new college next week. I could easily change it then.
I'm really just looking for some outside input, so:
What do you guys think? Does
Stephanie with the nickname of "
Effie" work without too much of a stretch? Would it be okay to change?
TIA
