mad-ah-LINE. For mad-ah-lynn, I'd spell in Madeleine or Madelyn.

Madeline to me seems like it would have the long I sound at the end. Whereas Madeleine seems like it would be said like Madelyn. And I'm with you, I only like the Madeline and Madeleine spellings.

I know a Madeline who pronounces it mad-uh-lynn (and, incidentally, doesn't seem to go by anything but her full name), but it makes the most sense to me as mad-uh-line, and that's how I'd automatically assume it was pronounced.

Madeleine I would pronounce mad-uh-len or even mad-uh-lane, though I'm not sure if the latter is acceptable. Because Madeline can be -line or -lyn, and there's also Madelyn and all the others, but where else can you get -len?

I pronounce Madeline as either "-line" or "-lin." I think it could be either one.

Not that you asked, but I pronounce Madeleine as "MAD-uh-lin" too, in English. :-D

My mom used to read the Madeline stories to me and always used that pronunciation. So that's the pronunciation I use for Madeline.

A ton of people use your preferred pronunciation, but for me Madelyn ends with Lynn, Madeline ends with line and Madeleine ends with Len.

I prefer Madeleine for looks AND sound. It's the only one I would ever use. I despise Madelyn or any other spelling containing the letter 'y' ;)

Madeleine would be [mahd-LEN], but it wouldn't shock me to see it being pronounced [mah-du-lynn], the English way.

Madelyn isn't that bad either, even if it does look dated; reminds me of Kathryn, Carolyn, or Marilyn.

Madeline, to me, is strictly -line, NEVER -lynn. I love Madeline when it's pronounced -line, and with no "Maddie" nickname, but Madelyn sounds and looks trendy, and I really don't love "Maddie."

Whenever I encounter this name, I instinctively pronounce it so that the final syllable rhymes with "fine."

Madeleine = MAD-eh-len (English) or mahd-eh-LEHN (Swedish)
Madeline = MAD-eh-lyn

I would pronounce the Madeline/Madeleine spellings with a long I sound. Madelyn I would pronounce with the -lynn ending.

But I think that you could probably spell it Madeline and correct people if they pronounced it differently than you wanted. Madeleine, though, I wouldn't try to put a -lynn ending on.

I say line. I have a cousin named Madeline and that is how we say it.

Madeleine - "MAD-uh-len"

I'd say both Madeline and Madeleine with a "line" sound. If I was going for the "lyn" ending, I'd spell it Madelin or maybe Madelyn.

For me, Madeline is -line and Madeleine is -lehn. I wouldn't guess lynn unless I saw Madelyn.

I assume that Madeline would be with the -lynn ending and that Madeleine would be with the -line ending.
