I'm currently writing a story that takes place at the beginning of the Renaissance, about a fictional kingdom--however, it's around the vicinity of (and I based much of it's culture on) the Limburg region in
Europe. In it, the royal family has names derived from Latin:
*
King Ambrosius*
Prince Adrianus*
Princess Therasia
However, they don't go by these names all the time--these are formalities. I already have Treesje (see
Trees) as the family's (and close friends') nickname for
Therasia, and it's the most nickname-y of all.
My question, however, is whether or not
Ambroos and
Arjan (Dutch variants of their Latin names) would be conceivable as their nicknames?
