I have to say,
Tate and
Robin on girls doesn't bother me at all. They're both pretty well established, and you could do far worse. Mind you, this is coming from someone who in an ideal world would be able to name a girl
Isidore (am I the only one who thinks
Isidore sounds feminine?) and a boy
Anna. I guess gender only means something to me because it means something to everyone else.
I don't think Cypress sounds like a name either, but a lot of names I like don't sound like names, if that makes sense. Like Freedom or
Amethyst or
Clover. The words themselves just have qualities that I think make the names that they're with more special.
