I like the literary connection, but when it's a first name, that connection doesn't automatically come to mind. I think of the name Shelly first, which is okay, but I don't think that it's quite ready for revival just yet. Michelle "Shelly" is common among people my age, so it doesn't strike me as all that interesting.
