Oh, I love both. Anne is currently my No. 1.

I prefer Alice. Anne to me is plain and tbh a bit dated. I know its supposed to be a classic, but I've always thought of Anne as a bit stale. Alice is much more fresh and has a modern feel, while still being traditional.

Alice
--------------
pro: classic, retro name that would be refreshing
con: may still be considered kind of datedAnne
-----------------
pro: classic, simple name rarely used as a first name anymore
con: may be considered plain, unrefreshing and a filler name because its always in the middle name slot

Alice - very sweet, feminine, old fashioned, pretty, possible nicknames of Ali/Ally or LisAnne - simple, strong, boring, overly common middle name, nickname of AnnieI personally would pick Alice.

Alice, because if she wants to fit in with her peers, Allie is a modern nickname. Anne is a bit boring, and Annie is an oldfashioned nickname that won't fit in with current trends.

Alice!Theyre both pretty names, I just think Anne is so boring. Alice is more interesing. Although, I know a beautiful French girl called Anne, which makes me like it a little more, but it was pronounced like UN obviously

Anne, please.Alice is rising in popularity and bores me.Anne is classic and underused. I love the nickname Nancy, or there is Annie, if you prefer.

I prefer Alice. Alice -Cons: It's increasing in popularity lately.Pros: It has a nice sound, and it's a familiar name, which means that most people probably wouldn't misspell or mispronounce it. It also has a nice meaning. Anne -Cons: On the plain side. I prefer it to Ann, but it still seems lacking to me.Pros: It's not too popular these days, and Annie is a cute nickname.

For: Both Alice and Anne are steeped in history and I love that. They should be timeless, but have had their off-decades.
Alice - Against: I don't like the "lice" spelling, but I do like Alys. More popular than Anne; Anne less common. For: Two syllables as opposed to Anne's one - less boring?
Anne - Against: single syllable; Anna better? For: I always think of "old gold" when I see this name. Classic, understated and dignified - time for a comeback. What a difference an e makes, for Ann is so dreary and plain, and best extended as Annie.

If I had to choose I'd go with Anne - I saw it twice last week as a BA mn so it's coming back into fashion as a mn, slowly.

BOTH! DXGuh! I love both those names! It's hard to choose! I'm leaning towards Anne, because after a LOOOONNNNGGG period of being a 'standard' middle name it seems refreshing to hear it on a little girl today.

I was just thinking about 'Alice or Anne' in the context of Cordelia Alice vs. Cordelia Anne.
Personally I love both on paper, but I prefer Alice out loud. I love the look of Anne, but out loud it sounds just the same as Ann, which I don't like at all for some reason.

I love both, but I especially love Anne because Annie is an adorable nickname! They are classics and you can't go wrong!I don't see any cons.

I like Alice better. It's my favorite name for a girl. If I have a daughter, her name will probably be Alice. :) It's so sweet and pretty. I find Anne to be more plain. That's why it's not my favorite.

ALICEPros: classic but very retro, nice sound, nice meaning ("noble"), most people know how to spell it, cute nn, AliCons: visually turns into 'a lice' (I'm sure no one else sees that but me!)
ANNEPros: has a long history, pedigree, nice meaning ("grace"), adorable nn, AnnieCons: it sounds rather plain, very common fn and mn throughout the years, just not very exiting to me because it sounds like an article of speech ('an')FWIW, I say go with Alice!

Yes - even as a kid I saw that "lice" thing. It was my gran's name, and much as I loved her I was troubled by that spelling!

Anne seems bland to me. It's common and I just find it to be kind of boring. Alice has a lot more personality to it in my opinion. I think it has a very pretty sound to it.
