Dorothea ?

I think Dorothea is quite pretty and refreshing
thumbs up
I was thinking on this the other day, and decided I like Dorothea more than Theodora. Dorothea seems a little more controlled and natual(but not spineless - the name Dorothy kicks serious butt and Dorothea definitely has the same fire), while I find Theodora almost borderline histronic. It makes me think of Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard descending the staircase - that is Theodora to me. Which is fine and good and great; I actually enjoy that a lot. I'm just more of a Dorothea kinda gal.
I don't think I could use it though. My BFF's mom is a Dorothy and she and I don't get along real great. So it would be kind of weird.

I was at school with a Dorothea who never had a nn at all, in spite of worshipping at the kind of ultra-chummy church that usually gives nicks to one and all. She was a nice girl and a good advertisement for her name.
I know a Theodora who's about 20. She loathes her name with a passion and insists on being known as Theo, though she's as feminine and beautiful as anyone can comfortably be! Only her father uses her full name.
As nicks go, I prefer Thea to the dire and dreadful Dora, so that would give Dorothea the edge.

Love Theadora & very much like Dorothea.
Tough one! I love both Theodora and Dorothea, please don't make me choose! I think they're both lovely, beautiful, exotic, very uncommon as well. That said, I do prefer Dorothy to Dorothea.
I have to say that Dorothea has better nn's than Theodora, I'm not a fan of Dora, so Theo or Thea would be nice. For Dorothea, there are awesome nn's - Dot, Dottie, Dolly, etc.

I think I like Dorothea. Probably more than anything for the nicknames Dot, Dori and Thea. All very cute.
Theodora is all right, but I really hate the potential nickname Dora, which is less likely from Dorothea.
