Alexandra
Fifty years ago, Alexandra, but nowadays, Cassandra, because it's fresher.
Alexandra
Cassandra sounds totally 1982 to me, can't help it.

I actually go back and forth on this one because I really like both. My husband loves Cassandra too. The problem is that while he would want to call her Cassie, I really don't care for the nn AT ALL and see nothing wrong with the full name. OTOH, with Alexandra (which he also likes), the nn Alex would be intuitive to both of us so I'd have to say I prefer Alexandra today. Now if I were naming her alone, I'd prefer Cassandra.
Sorry, I'm not much help, am I?

Both are beautiful names, but I'd probably go with Cassandra because it's less common. The good thing about Alexandra is that it lends itself to various nicknames, such as Xandra, that are less common than, say, Alex, so an Alexandra would still be able to differentiate herself from the other Alexandras if she wanted to.
