Nikolai II's grandfather through his daughter,
Dagmar (who eventually became
Maria Fyodorovna of Russia upon marrying
Aleksandr III). I remember nicknaming him "the man who accidently became king" because I don't think he was heir to the throne of Denmark, was he? It's so interesting to work out how all the royal families of Europe are related. Genealogy is so much fun when you ahve time for it.
