HelpMercedes and Valentin
Disregarding the car thing with Mercedes, what do you think of these names?
Mercedes would be used for it's connection to the Virgin Mary.
Do you prefer Valentin, Valentine or Valentino? The nickname would be Tin, but the full name would be used at most times.
*this is not for any kids I'll have, just wondering generally (maybe for a character)

Mercedes is alright. It could have a nn like Mercy or something if needed. I like Valentin. Valentine is too associated with Valentine's Day, etc. and Valentino seems a bit too dramatic to use as a first name. Well, unless it's a dramatic person from Italy or something..

I absolutely love all forms of Valentin - it's so hard to choose which one I prefer! I guess it depends what 'feel' you're going for.
Valentino seems more exotic, I picture it on a more exotic, vibrant person, somewhere from Italy or Spain or even South America. Valentin, on the other hand, seems more cultured, refined, more 'European', artistic - somewhere from Germany, France or even Eastern Europe. And Valentine feels more 'English', and hippy-like. I guess after all that I prefer Valentin -not too exotic, not too literal either. And I love the nn Tin!
