To me, it's a relic, like Ethel, Bertha, Willard, and Lester. Doesn't sound modern enough to me. I guess it's the rhyme with label and table that wrecks it. Amabel sounds much better to me.

Old skipping rhyme+Mable Mable, set the table
Don't forget the salt and pepper,
Vinegar, vinegar, Vinegar! (the skipping rope turns extra fast there, hazard of tripping, in fact, that's the point.)
