I don't think it really needs a nickname at all. It's a wonderful name all but itself! :)

Christo, Cricket, Kit, or Kip would be my favourites, but I don't think Christian needs a nickname at all. It's perfectly fine on its own--a nickname detracts from its handsome sound, IMO.

Kit is a traditional nn for Christopher (i.e., Christopher "Kit" Carson). I suppose it could be a nn for Christian. Why not? Jodie Foster (nee Alicia Christian Foster) has a son named Kit. I don't know if it's short for Christian but it seems logical to me.

I'm not to fond of Ian although it would honor people in my family if we did call him by Ian.
