I wouldn't be surprised if the person told me it was LAY-nuh though. I just know a Lena and they pronounce it LEE-nuh, so I'm used to it like that.

In Germany it is pro. lay-naa, lay-nah or lee-nuh
Can also be pro. LEN-ah, LEE-nah, leh-nah

I pronounce them a-nook and lee-na. I really like the name Lena and Elena (ah-lee-na). Hope this helps! :)
