Gerda?

Gerda is a unusual, but I like it. I've only heard of two people w/ it: Charlize Theron's mother and an author (sorry, no details on her). This is a name that I might use for an animal, but never for a human. I also like Gerd.

Gerda is pronounced as YAIRR-da
Since the G is before a soft vowel, it is pronounced with a J-sound. And J is pronound as Y in Scandinavian languages.
To me, Gerda is an "old lady" name. But it may get popular in Sweden again, like other old names as Elsa and Greta. But outside Scandinavia, I fear the pronounciation would be butchered.
"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

I think it's adorable. It has a lot of "old world charm."
I rather like it, because of a book I had as a kid called "Gerda lives in Norway", about a girl named Gerda and her friend Helga. I'm never quite sure how to pronounce it though. JER-da doesn't sound right, and GER-da reminds me of girders, a type of iron support used in buildings. But still, I like it!

I thought of a girdle.
Yes, I can't help but think of girders either!
