Lorelei
This name popped into my head this morning and I find myself giving it another chance. I used to really dislike it, because of its connection to The Gilmore Girls, a show I could not stand. But now the association is not as strong and I find it's rather pretty, has a neato mythological source, and is similar to my mom's name to boot. What do you think of the name Lorelei? Its popularity is rising, but it's still way down on the charts. How would you combo it, were you to use it?thanks!

I never would've thought to use it, but it's nice. And I have very positive Gilmore Girls associations as I love the show and own all 7 seasons! So that makes it a better name for me than otherwise!

Lorelei is a really gorgeous name. It has an interesting set of sounds. And I like the nn Rory from in Gilmore Girls (I liked the show, but it is a count against Lorelei/Lorelai anyway). It also makes me think of the member of the elite 4 in Pokemon... but that's really probably just me.Combo list:Lorelei Alyssa
Lorelei Bethany
Lorelei Bridget
Lorelei Fiona
Lorelei Haley
Lorelei Kateri
Lorelei Marilyn
Lorelei Rebecca

It's very pretty and melodious. I've never met one or even heard of one, so it has no associations for me at all. Thus I am utterly clueless about what to pair it with! Woe.Lorelei Gilda

I love it! It has a very pleasing sound and I love the mythology as well. I usually put it in the mn spot but I think it would make a fantastic fn as well.

My husband loves this name. I think it is really pretty, and the place Lorelei (Loreley) is beautiful. I like the nn Rory. I can't quite decide if I like the mythological story attached to the name -- a mysterious woman who lures men to their doom!I have seen only a couple of times Gilmore Girls and didn't really like it. So I don't associate Lorelei with the show, and try to keep it that way. :)

I think it's lovely. I tend to think of mythology rather than Gilmore Girls, which I've never watched. Spelling it Lorelei rather than Lorelai like the character might possibly deter people from associating it with the show. The good thing is that the myth was around well before the show, so I'm sure that a good number of people would probably realize that (at least I hope so).Lorelei is on my list, and I'd like to use it as a middle name. One of my favorite Lorelei combos is Lorelei Winter.
