Re: Hungarian names (ETA a couple more)
in reply to a message by Fiammetta
I love Hungarian names.
I love Eastern European names in general. But Hungarian names have that special, spicy quality to them that I find irresistable.
Imre -- Love it. I have a thing for "i" names.
Ferenc -- I love Francis, but this one always makes me stop to pronounce it correctly. I find it slightly annoying, but that's my limitation. I'd be extremely pleased to meet a little Ferenc one day.
Mathias -- Always handsome and dashing, in almost any variant. This one is no exception.
Miklos -- Very handsome.
Erno -- This one loses me.
Lajos -- Nice.
Lazslo -- Love it. It makes me think of Victor Lazslo and "Casablanca." :-)
Istvan -- Love Stephen. Love Istvan. Another "i" name for me. Yay, team "i."
Gabor -- Too ZsaZsa for me.
Sandor -- Love it. Very handsome.
The male names feel so muscular to me.
Erzsebet -- Delightful.
Agnes -- I would have thought the Hungarian form was different than this, not that I have anything particular in my head. I've always loved Agnes.
Sofia -- Nice, if somewhat tired right now.
Klara -- Sorry, Hungary. I prefer the Clara spelling. Lovely name.
Valeria -- Now there's a name with flair. Love it.
Judit -- Kick in the pants. Love it.
Monika -- Prefer the Monica spelling. But either way this name doesn't get enough attention.
Katalin -- Nice.
Margaret -- Really? They don't have a goulashier spelling? Ah well. Margaret is enduring and lovely no matter what variant.
Zsuzsanna -- Zing!

ROLF at "goulashier spelling"! I have to use that one. "Paprikashier" is also a possibility.
They do have Margaréta, but it's not very adventurous.
