Surprising BA
I got a mass mail from a penpal saying she had a baby girl last Friday. Her daughter's name is Cateline Ophelia. She told me that she's pregnant a few weeks ago and I thought she'd name the baby Maydylynn or or something like that because she mentioned she likes 'y's and creative spellings. She did a good job for a 16 year old but now I'm thinking about it I'm not sure if she knows that Cateline is a legit name and not a creative form of Caitlin and I don't know how she pronounces it.
What do you think of Cateline Ophelia?

It's nice, but my first thought was not Caitlin, I thought Cat-a-leen.

On first glance I wanted to pronounce the name kat-a-line. Ophelia is a beautiful middle name.

Me too. I saw it as kat-a-line. I like that better than if it's pronounced Caitlin.

I think that the combo flows well, and I like Ophelia. It seems highly likely that people would confuse Cateline with Caitlin or Kathleen if it's pronounced kate-LEEN, and if it's pronounced like Caitlin/Katelyn/Kaitlyn, etc., I'm sure it will throw people off too.

I like Ophelia, but Cateline reminds me of Catiline, the figurehead of a conspiracy to overthrow the Republic:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catiline

That's a very nice name! Cateline Ophelia, very pretty. Even if it is supposed to be a kreative name, unintentional and unexpected prettiness is good to see :)

Exactly. :)
