I love names with ties to Mythology, but I also like when they can function in the "real world" without causing a ruckus wherever they go - like
Chloe,
Daphne,
Phoebe, etc. I like that they seem like ordinary names, but when you look closely they have rich stories behind them.
I've made up a list of names that I think fulfill this quality, but I would like to know if any of these look too "strange".
Girls:
DianaEudoraFloraSeleneRheaTheaNonaLucinaCamillaAuroraDeliaDaphneDanae (iffy, but like Dana-with-a-twist I thought))
DorisIrisIreneGaiaHelene,
HelenIoneIantheCora (
Kore)
PandoraPenelopePhoebePhyllisBridgetNess,
NessBranwenMorgaine,
Morgan
Boys (perhaps not surprisingly I have way fewer of these):
ArgusCastor (I'm not sure of this, I thought maybe it could squeak by because of its similarity to
Casper)
HectorLinusNestorFergusAngusArthurYvain (not exactly an everyday name buy I am loving it today)
WaylandAlf (super geeky but not too bizarre I thought)
So, do any really look odd, or overly "weird" up there? Do you have any other suggestions, especially for boys?
Thanks all!
