Re: Blanche

Yes, yes, yes to Blanche. She's been growing on me too a lot lately. Well, that's not true. It's been a long, slow process. Years ago I met a little Blanche and I thought, "How could they do that to a sweet little girl?" Then I learned that she was named after an aunt who had died young in a car accident. Suddenly, the name became so bittersweet and haunting.
Then a few years later I was in a museum. There was a crown from the 12th or 13th century, from a little known English princess named Blanche who traveled to Bavaria to get married. She brought this crown / coronet with her. Suddenly, I had a picture of a real person making what must have been an extremely difficult journey to an unknown future. I really began to like the name Blanche. It had heart.
I also love Blanca. But Bianca feels too harsh and reminds me of Binaca mouth freshener. But Blanche and Blanca are fab. Blanchefleur is a GP. It could make a terrific nn for Blanche.
Blanche Audrey
Blanche Rosalind
Blanche Eleanor / Eleanora
Blanche Isadora
Blanche Theodora
Blanche Lydia
Blanche Sophie
Blanche Angharad
Blanche Llewella
Blanche Eirlys (= a white snowdrop)
Blanche Gwenllian
Blanche Elspeth
Blanche Lorelei
Blanche Adele
Blanche Philippa
Blanche Matilda
Blanche Aurelia
Blanche Honora
Blanche Gilbertine
Blanche Amalswinth
Blanche Roswitha
Blanche Lucinda
Blanche Marianne
Blanche Olivia
Blanche Timothea
So many different directions Blanche can take you. Do any of these tickle your fancy? Thanks.

wow
I like it even MORE after those two stories. I wish I had a dead, beautiful great-aunt with a tragic story I could say I used it after.
I reeeally like these:
Blanche Audrey
Blanche Rosalind
Blanche Eleanora
Blanche Isadora
Blanche Lydia
Blanche Sophie
Blanche Elspeth
Blanche Adele
Blanche Philippa
Blanche Gilbertine - oh my god. I love this. I's like purple and cream stripes.
Blanche Lucinda
Blanche Marianne - Marianne is honouring! Hooray!
I'm so glad someone else likes Blanche.

LOL, you saying you wish you had a dead great-aunt is funny.
Now I don't like Blanche, as previously stated, and Blanchefleur was suggested as a nickname, but that seems overly flowery to me. Do you like Blanchette as a nickname? It softens Blanche quite a bit. I like Blanchette quite a bit more than Blanche itself.

Oh yes, I like Blanchette as a nn. I have a feeling I'd find all kinds of silly pet forms for a Blanche.
